HAUL: more MAC

Hello!
Another MAC post! Having obtained my first MAC items I decided to go myself and pick up another few things I've been interested in - having seen them repeatedly pop up on various youtube videos and blogposts. This included Blacktrack Fluidline gel eyeliner, Studio Finish concealer and a lip pencil, to match 'Dare You'
(featured in THIS post)

Blacktrack Fluidline: Honestly, I almost didn't want to use this - it looked so perfect and untouched! But I did, although I can't properly comment on it yet because I don't have a thin enough brush to apply it with - yet! I have discovered though that this has really good staying power! My love/hate relationship with gel liners is being tested

Studio Finish Concealer: This has been recommended to me by one of my best friends who is a dedicated MAC lover! She had already told me that my shade is NW20 (as a new MAC buyer, I really have no idea how this number/letter system works..haha) You can find her on Youtube HERE - definitely go check out her channel! This concealer is a good all over one, and is thick enough to build up easily to cover pimples and spots without being blatantly obvious. One of my new go-to products!

Lip Pencil in 'Brick': This purchase was to complement the lipstick which my best friend gave me for my birthday. Lip pencil is required for me with red lips, and I decided to try out a MAC one. There's not much to say.. I don't own a wide variety of lip pencils, so all I can comment is that it's good! haha And it isn't too creamy or too hard. A happy medium.

Hope you've all had a lovely weekend! Mine has been one to remember :)

  2. Arghhh, I HATE liquid and gel liners, and yet I love how they look. I am absolutely rubbish at applying them, especially when it comes to doing winged liner - I don't know why, but I just can't seem to get the angle right. ever.
Actually, I say I hate both, but I have never tried a gel liner, as I figured that if I can't do liquid then I won't be able to do that either, haha. Is it any easier?

    1. Ahahahaha! Such a strong reaction to this blog post Mel..
Well, I am pro at liquid liner - though only specific brush types. Ones which are very long and thin, liquid liner pens, and the ones with brushes like nail varnish brushes just do not work with me! But I have tried gel before and just had major issues. I believe the key with gel (apart from patience and practise!) is a really good brush! Think thin paint-brush style!
I spent around 5 months getting into liquid liner and practising putting it over my day's makeup before removing it at night before I properly got the hang of it! So.. That may not seem helpful, but I wish to encourage you to keep going! Because if you get the hang of flicks they can look really pretty!

    2. - And saying this, I still have days during every week where my flicks just won't go the same and I have to keep restarting! No one can ever be perfect due to human error, but unless your flicks are huuuge a slight angle variation isn't always that obvious! x

  3. Like Jen, I don't own any Mac either. Definitely going to take my birthday money there! I've heard so many good things about their concealers! xx

    1. Go for it Jen! I'm so pleased that I did! I think that sometimes treating yourself by spending a little more can be better than getting a few products of reasonable quality. Saying this, this is the first time I have done this sort of splurge haha

    1. Hi Nicole! Thanks for commenting :)
I bought the precision eyeliner brush from No7 yesterday which I'm keen to try out with it! I can tell you that if you have a thin brush (that is relatively hard so easier to control) and you practise using it with gel liner then it can become a very simple look to do! I have a friend in this position, and it looks almost effortless with her. Another hint is to check out youtube tutorials where they explain and can show you what to do! Try this one: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fYxS0M_e2o8&feature=plcp - and pay attention from about 3 minutes in!
      Hope this helps!

  7. I NEEEED a MAC haul soon!
And I agree with the not wanting to use the eyeliner, I'm like that with basically anything; lipsticks, creme blushers haha! If I was rich I'd just buy two of everything so I could have one to look at!

    1. haha that's such a sweet idea! Yeh, it's sad that the appearance of makeup goes downhill so fast when you start using it!
Thank you for commenting Hannah! I love the colour of your hair! It really suits you that bright!
